What you agree to by using MyFretwork.
These are the terms for using MyFretwork. Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
MyFretwork is operated by Paul Neil Music LLC. Using the site means agreeing to what follows.
Accounts are by invitation. You either receive an invite link, or your teacher creates an account for you.
This community is built for high-school students and adults. It is not for children under 13.
If your teacher created your account, that account belongs to the school's work, and your teacher can reset its password or remove it. You can claim it as your own by adding your email address, and once you do, it is yours.
Keep your password to yourself. If you think somebody else has it, change it.
Your posts, comments, sheet music, chord charts and recordings remain yours. Nothing here takes ownership of your work.
By putting something in the community, you allow us to store it and show it to the people you have shared it with, so the site can do its job. That permission is limited to running MyFretwork, and it ends when you delete the work or your account.
A recording of yourself is private until you decide otherwise. You choose whether it stays yours alone, is visible to the community, or is open to anyone with the link.
Teachers can see work handed in to them as homework, which is the point of handing it in.
Most guitar music is somebody else's. You may write out and keep charts and tabs of songs you are learning, and share them inside the community, which is what a classroom does.
Do not make a chart, tab, recording or arrangement of somebody else's song public to the whole internet unless you have the right to. The public setting is for your own work and for music that is genuinely free to share.
If you hold rights to something published here and it should not be, say so and it will be taken down.
The community guidelines are part of these terms. They cover what is expected and what happens when it goes wrong.
Short version: do not harass anybody, do not post anything you would not want a teacher to read, and do not try to get at other people's accounts or at parts of the site that are not yours.
Breaking the guidelines can mean content removed, a warning, a recorded strike, or an account suspended. Teachers and administrators moderate the community.
MyFretwork is a small operation, not a large company with a support department. The site is provided as it is. It can go down, and a feature can behave in a way nobody intended.
Keep your own copies of work that matters to you. The database is backed up, and backups are not the same thing as a guarantee.
Nothing here costs anything today. There is no subscription, no advertising, and no payment of any kind.
If that ever changes, it will be said here and on the site before it happens, not quietly.
You can delete your account yourself at any time, from your profile page.
We can suspend or remove an account that breaks the guidelines, or one created for somebody under 13.
Paul Neil Music LLC is a Georgia company, and these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia.
If these terms change in a way that matters, it will be said here rather than quietly edited.
Questions about any of this go to the person who runs this community.
